Sculpture sits on black stone base base measures: 1.5in H x 9.5in W x 6.5in D total sculpture: 13.5in H x 9.5in W x 6.5in D Harris McLean Sorrelle was a gifted sculptor and professor who taught at the University of Memphis for nearly 30 years. Several of his pieces are housed at the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis. Additionally, his large-scale sculptures can be found across the county, including one at the University of Memphis. A second one is at Martyrs Park atop the Chickasaw Bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. It honors those who lost their lives caring for the sick during the Yellow Fever epidemic in Memphis the 1870s.
